Forward Deployed Engineer, Consultant
Join a deployment team embedded inside a client's operation, writing production code against real systems from your first week under a senior engineer's architecture.
This is the entry point into forward-deployed engineering at CopperPin. You'll rotate across deployments in different industries, building the range that turns into a senior role.
Why CopperPin
You'll get more real production exposure in a year here than in three years at a typical engineering org — different industries, different stacks, and a direct line to whether what you built actually worked.
What you'll do
- 01Build features and integrations for production AI systems, under a senior engineer's architecture, against the client's real stack
- 02Help instrument and measure a workflow's baseline before the build starts
- 03Debug issues against live production traffic — not a staging environment nobody trusts
- 04Write documentation clear enough that the client's team can maintain what you built
- 05Sit in client meetings and learn to translate operator problems into engineering scope
What we look for
1–3 years of software engineering experience, with real code shipped to production
Some exposure to building with LLMs — coursework, side projects, or professional work all count
Comfort with ambiguity: client environments are messy, and the workflow rarely matches the documentation
A bias toward shipping over polishing — we measure outcomes, not elegance
Important
This role is client-embedded and requires travel to client sites as deployments require. It is not a remote engineering role.
